(HEERF III Funding)

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund III, authorized by the American Rescue Plan, provided Catholic University with $3.1 million in federal student financial assistance funding for students who are or were enrolled during the COVID-19 national emergency to ensure continuity of learning. The University has already allocated over $2 million and has opened the application to award the remaining funds. Only students who demonstrate exceptional need, such as Pell Grant recipients and undergraduates with extraordinary financial circumstances will be considered a first priority as directed under this federal relief program. These grants are intended to lessen the financial challenges for current students resulting from the continuing financial impact due to COVID -19. This funding is not intended to replace or supplement existing financial aid and does not have to be repaid. This grant is not renewable for future years unless Congress provides additional supplemental funding to address the impact of the pandemic.

We are now accepting applications for HEERF III Relief Funding beginning Friday, October 22nd. To apply for the emergency grant, click here to complete the application before the deadline of Sunday, October 31st, 2021. Questions about this application should be directed to us here in the Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Approved applications will have funds placed directly on their student accounts. Students will be given the option of directing the award to pay current educational expenses by applying the funds to their student account to cover any unpaid balance or paid directly to them for indirect costs such as books and supplies, transportation, or personal expenses. To receive the refund quickly, applicants should ensure they have a direct deposit established on their student account. Students can enroll in direct deposit by following these instructions on the Enrollment Services website.

All Catholic University students who were enrolled in Fall 2021 and on/or after Spring 2020 and who are experiencing financial hardships from the coronavirus pandemic are eligible to apply. 

There is a deadline of Sunday, October 31st, 2021, and there can be no exceptions.
