What is the CSS Profile?
The CSS Profile (College Scholarship Service Profile) is an online application that provides CUA with certain financial and other family information necessary to determine your eligibility for institutional, need-based aid.
Why does Catholic University need the CSS Profile?
This information provided on the CSS Profile helps Catholic University process your aid more quickly and efficiently. It often helps us avoid having to request additional documents for verification purposes.
Who needs to submit the CSS Profile?
Newly admitted traditional freshman and transfer students, who are applying for institutional, need-based aid, will be required to complete the CSS Profile. Graduate students, continuing undergraduate students, and students enrolled in the Metropolitan School of Professional Studies do not need to complete a CSS Profile.
When do I submit the CSS Profile?
Prospective, undergraduate students may begin completing the CSS Profile as early as October 1.
- Fall Semester Early Action and Early Decision students should submit the CSS Profile by December 1.
- Fall Semester Regular Decision students should submit the CSS Profile by February 1.
Students may still submit a CSS Profile after these dates. However, priority for institutional, need-based aid will be given to those who submit it by those dates.
Do I need to submit the CSS Profile in order to receive federal aid?
No. The CSS PROFILE is used to determine eligibility for institutional, need-based aid. Students who do not wish to complete the CSS PROFILE will still be able to receive any federal aid that they may qualify for by completing a FAFSA.
How do I submit the CSS Profile?
You will need to begin by creating an account with College Board. After you have created your account, please visit the CSS Profile main page and sign in. Finally, you will complete and submit the application. Catholic University's school code for the CSS Profile is 5104. The College Board provides a student guide to completing the CSS Profile.
How much does filing a CSS Profile cost?
The fee for an initial application is $25 for one school and $16 for each additional school. Dependent upon the information provided on the CSS PROFILE application, first-time college applicants from families with low incomes and assets may qualify for fee waivers. The waivers are granted automatically and cover reporting fees for up to eight colleges.
Do I need to submit noncustodial parent information?
Yes. In the CSS Profile you will be prompted to either enter contact information for your noncustodial parent or given instructions to forward to the noncustodial parent. If you provide the contact information, College Board will send a request to the noncustodial parent. Alternatively, you may choose to contact the noncustodial parent and provide them with their unique login information. The information from the noncustodial parent is required to help ensure appropriate eligibility. If you have questions about completing this part of the CSS Profile, contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
What if I need to make a correction to my CSS Profile data?
